Casa do Professor coordinates an international project on gender equality

The project is co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Program and involves countries such as Cyprus, Greece, United Kingdom and Romania.

Casa do Professor is coordinating an international project for gender awareness and equality. The T-SHIRT (Tools on Supporting the Figure for Issues of Gender Traditionality and Disparities) aims to combat gender inequalities by training teachers and raising awareness among students.

In addition to workshops and a conference in 2022, this project will provide courses on implementing gender equality, awareness and a spirit of reflection in the classroom will be promoted over the next few months; strategies and techniques to raise students’ awareness of gender perception issues; digital courses, playful content and webinars.

According toJorge Soares, president of Casa do Professor, “the development and sharing of the most innovative educational practices is, in fact, an objective of our institution, which has contributed, for decades, to the professional development and social intervention of educators and teachers of all levels of education”.

In 2022, Portugal will host the international conference

Casa do Professor is now coordinating a project that proposes “the creation of a common pedagogical approach for gender awareness and equality”. Under the name  of T-SHIRT (Tools on Supporting the Figure for Issues of Gender Traditionality and Disparities), the initiative aims to link Portugal to educational institutions in Cyprus, Greece, the United Kingdom and Romania.

The main objective of the T-SHIRT project corresponds to the “training of the teachers, through pedagogies and tools and the sensitization of the students, through new materials and extracurricular activities”.

In this way, over the next few months, “courses on the implementation of gender equality, awareness and spirit of reflection in the classroom” will be promoted; as well as methodologies “to sensitize students to issues of gender perception”; and “digital resources and tools that address the context of a contemporary school system with eLearning platforms, digital courses, recreational content, webinars, among others”.

The institution also states that, in addition to the workshops that will take place in the countries involved, in 2022, Portugal will be the stage for the international conference. During the event, the latest approaches to gender equality  will be presented by researchers and experts.

It should be remembered that the project is coordinated by the Pedagogical Innovation Center of the Casa do Professor and is composed of the CSI – Center for Social Innovation (Cyprus); InnovED – Center for Education and Innovation, University of Thessaly and Xenios Polis, research institution (Greece); INOVA Consultancy LTD (United Kingdom) and from the University of Bucharest (Romania).

Casa do Professor coordinates the project international on gender equality

Casa do Professor will coordinate an Erasmus+ international project on gender equality that aims to create a pedagogical approach for gender awareness and equality.

The new project coordinated by Casa do Professor T-SHIRT (Tools on Supporting the figHt for Issues of gendeR Traditionality and disparities) has as main goal fighting against gender inequality through teacher training and sensitization of students. Recognizing the importance of the education system in individual and social change, the new project coordinated by Casa do Professor proposes the creation of an approach, Greece, United Kingdom and Romania.

Over the next months there will be available numerous intellectual products intended for teachers, such as equality implementation courses, conscience and spirit of gender reflection in the room of class; methodologies that encompass strategies and awareness techniques from students to issues of gender perception; digital resources and tools that address the context of the contemporary school system with eLearning platforms, digital courses, content games and webinars.

T-SHIRT, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union and counts on the active participation of CSI – Center for Social Innovation (Cyprus); of InnovED – Center for Education and Innovation, from the University of Tessália and Xenios Polis, research institution (Greece); of INOVA Consultancy LTD (Kingdom United) and the University from Bucharest (Romania).

In the framework of this project, in 2022 Portugal will be stage of the International Conference that will disseminate the latest approaches by researchers and specialists in the theme of gender equality, promoting the sharing of educational practices inclusive. The President of the Casa do Professor, Jorge Soares, states that «this is a set of educational events organized by the Casa do Professor’s Pedagogical Innovation Center that, currently, integrates ten international projects. The development and sharing of more innovative educational practices is, in fact, a goal of our institution, which contributes, for decades, for the professional development and social intervention of educators and teachers of all levels of education’.
